Joseph Michael Varhula, 87, of Fontana, died Jan. 4, 2026. Kenneth J. Arber, 88, of Genoa City, died Jan. 1, 2026. Michele Lynn Markiewicz (Scanlan), 70, formerly of Salem, died Jan. 3, 2026.

Voters in Twin Lakes will have a contested election for village trustee on the April 7 ballot. All three incumbents and two challengers filed candidacy papers by the deadline Tuesday.

The Salem Lakes Village Board is scheduled to meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Village Hall in Salem. The meeting also will be livestreamed and available for later viewing here.
