Penn State wrestling makes NCAA history with 78th straight dual win after blasting Rutgers recap
Penn State wrestling has made more NCAA history. The No. 1 Nittany Lions blasted Rutgers 46-0 on Saturday at Rec Hall to win their 78th consecutive match. That breaks a tie with St. Cloud State for the most all-time dual meet wins in a row at the collegiate level.
The Nittany Lions' winning streak dates back to February 2, 2020, when the Nittany Lions defeated the Maryland Terrapins 40-3, following a 19-17 loss to Iowa.
The 174-pound bout features a rematch between Penn State’s top-ranked Levi Haines and No. 10 Lenny Pinto (7-3), the Stroudsburg High graduate who transferred from Nebraska. Haines, who will be seeking his 85 th career win, beat Pinto 9-2 last season at Nebraska.
