The Cavaliers and Nittany Lions both closed out their seasons in style during the busiest day of the 2025-26 college football bowl season

Several North Country sports teams were able to get games after taking advantage of a break in the weather. There was action in basketball, hockey, swimming, wrestling, and volleyball. Here’s a look at the sports scoreboard from around the area on Thursday night.

Ryan Nelson scored a game-high 27 points as Brearley secured a 60-56 win over Gov. Livingston in Kenilworth. In a back-and-forth first half, Brearley (4-3) took a two-point lead after the first before Gov. Livingston (2-5) regained the lead by halftime.

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association football championship games are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Cumberland Valley High School. Only 12 teams remain in the playoffs, and six PIAA champions will be crowned by Saturday night at Chapman Field. Tickets for each title game can be found online.

Al-Nassr have slipped four points behind Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal after slumping to a 2-1 defeat to Al Qadsiah. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of 2026 from the penalty spot in the game to halve the deficit but it was not enough as Jorge Jesus's team lost for the second match in a row.
