There has already been talk of Greenland 3, but the bold and surprising ending of Greenland 2: Migration raises questions about what the series might do next.
Released, more or less, in 2020 at the height of the global pandemic, Ric Roman Waugh’s “Greenland” told the story of an ordinary family struggling to make its way to Greenland to take refuge in an underground bunker complex.
For now, Greenland 2: Migration will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters wide in the U.S. on Friday, January 9. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Greenland 2: Migration is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Paramount/18Hz’s Primate rang up $1.4M from both Thursday night showtimes and previous previews. Meanwhile, Lionsgate/STX’s Greenland: Migration did $900K. Triple note on that Gerard Butler movie, Canada isn’t going this weekend.
Spoiler alert: it’s not “everyone high-fives and starts rebuilding civilization.” Ric Roman Waugh’s follow-up, Greenland 2: Migration, drops January 9, 2026, and this sequel is doing something rare in disaster movies.
