Virginia has added a second quarterback through the transfer portal. Per CBS Sports, former Pitt QB Eli Holstein has signed with the Cavaliers, just days after Virginia added former Missouri QB Beau Pribula.
The losses span every level of the roster. Interior offensive lineman Coleton Price, the top-ranked IOL transfer in Cooper Petagna's 247Sports portal rankings, is gone. Linebacker Keaton Thomas leaves after leading the team with 99 total tackles, while safety DJ Coleman and linebacker Emar'rion Winston take proven defensive snaps with them.
Ethan Grunkemeyer announced Wednesday his commitment to Virginia Tech via the transfer portal. He will follow James Franklin, offensive coordinator Ty Howle and quarterbacks coach Danny O’Brien with the Hokies. Grunkemeyer entered the transfer portal when it opened on Jan. 2 and thanked Penn State for his two years shortly afterward.
Virginia has remained an active team in the portal and have up to 19 additions heading into the 2026 offseason. The latest is former Navy cornerback Justin Ross.
